Frame Weaving Workshop / 4 hours class

from 85.00

Workshop for adults :: max 6 people

The workshop is a 3-hour or a 4-hour class designed to give to students a thorough and intensive grounding in hand-weaving. There are two upcoming workshops which will be hosted by the brand new STRAW and friends Concept Store at Columbia Road Flower Market on Thursday 13th of December at 6.15pm and by the lovely HAND Cafe on Victory Parade in East Village E20 on Sunday 16th of December at 3pm.

All materials will be provided. A small handmade frame loom, weaving tools and instructions will be also provided to take home. Plus drinks (wine/tea) and biscuits on the house!

  • weave |wi:v|; verb (past: wove |wəʊv| ; past participle: woven |ˈwəʊv(ə)n| or wove) [ with obj. ]

Weaving is a method of textile production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric or cloth. The longitudinal threads are called the warp and the lateral threads are the weft or filling. The method in which these threads are inter woven affects the characteristics of the cloth. Cloth is usually woven on a loom, a device that holds the warp threads in place while filling threads are woven through them. A fabric band which meets this definition of cloth can also be made using other methods, including tablet weaving, frame weaving, back-strap, or other techniques without looms.
