Only a few tickets have left for tomorrow’s workshop!
Join us on the 5th floor at @harveynichols for an in depth workshop which will teach you all the basics of weaving and how to turn your household waste textiles from old T-shirts to pillowcases into textile masterpieces. You will leave with your own weaving kit, including a wooden frame loom, tools and an instruction booklet to start you on your weaving journey! Yarns will be supplied but do bring your own textiles to recycle - tablecloths, bed sheets, pillow cases and T-shirts.
Refreshments will be provided by Harvey Nichols Bar.

XENODICE TURNER Stool featured in Objects of Desire at Country Living | Modern Rustic Issue 13 - Thank you @modernrusticcountryliving
The XENODICE TURNER Stool is a unique piece and the first one of my new collaboration with the furniture maker @charlesdedman .
The stool is handmade from oak and upholstered with a hand-woven cloth. It is stuffed with natural sustainable materials (rubberised hair and cotton wadding) and hand stitched. The cloth is made with natural undyed British alpaca and wool in shades of ecru, grey and sandstone with Aegean blue coloured details.
For this piece my aim was to embrace the raw states of the cloth and showcase its organic nature. Every stool is an one-off piece and could be upholstered with a cloth of your preference within my collection or a bespoke one made especially for you.
XENODICE TURNER STOOL is inspired from the Scandinavian simplicity and reinforced by traditional British techniques and craftsmanship. Perfect for occasional seating.
In every step of the production a ZERO WASTE philosophy has been followed, aiming to decrease to the minimum yarn waste and unnecessary cuts, carbon footprints, the use of machinery, water and electric energy. The environmental impact is being considered at all the stages of the design, the making process.
Weaving Workshop : Few Tickets Left!
Join me on Sunday the 17th of February at @craftcentraluk for an intensive 4-hour weaving workshop.
You will learn all the basics and leave with your own weaving kit and instructions to carry on at home.

Useful/Beautiful :: Why Craft Matters? | Is the title of the new exhibition @harewoodhouse and curated by the amazing @hugomacd opening in late March [more details to follow] and in which I will present a few pieces of my work.
Preparing some paperwork for my participation I had to answer this question myself. So here we are:
For me craft is more than just a way of making things; it’s a way of thinking and living in the most sustainable way. Living in a digital era of single-use objects, where people discard things easily, the need for tangible and real materials arises. Craft questions the different processes of dealing with the material world, and it brings back a certain level of human dignity. Craft calms down our high-speed society. In a way, craft is a tool to connect the heritage of the past with our present. Craft can invest a context of regionalism and history to our convenience-based economy. Craft is an event that starts with a physical sense of relationship between materials and people.

Hand-weaving especially - one of the oldest crafts, like a portal to past eras and candlelit work environments, brings back a long- forgotten, almost romantic, collaboration of the body and the mind, and a relationship between the domesticity and the creativity.

We love each other more through the beauty we create. Hand-crafted goods remind us how and why we are human - they carry a story, maker’s personality and the emotional state of their creator. Often on hand-woven textiles are visible sings of rest pauses where the weaver has taken a break from the loom, something which otherwise is an industrial defect becomes a detail we empathise with.
Passed on from one generation to another, textile heirlooms become narrative objects of a great sentimental value, which encompass a particular sense of belonging for me: feeling at home.

Why craft matters to you?
